Phuket 2016 (Part 5)

Thursday, July 28, 2016

Last day in Phuket and we woke up real early at 5.30am, hoping to see a different side of Kata Beach in the morning. It was such a pretty and comforting moment with so few people, looking at the locals surfing, catching fish & shells and people doing yoga at the beach. Felt so at peace that morning and I wish we could've stayed a little longer.

Cute doggies are out for morning exercise too!

Went back for breakfast and washed up and finished our packing and checked out.

Saying goodbye for now

Our flight was at 10pm but we had wanted to explore other places before going home. We took the local bus, known as Song Taews that was just opposite kata beach hotel and went into phuket town. It was an interesting experience that I think everyone should try it out. The local bus though slow sometimes, felt like sitting in a huge lorry and it was such an experience!

Tbh, phuket town felt like Malacca actually. We took a cab to a nearby shopping area, missing out Big C supermarket and had lunch at Mac and shopped at the supermarket there before walking to the bus terminal. It was a pretty long walk despite hearing that it was just 10 mins. We took a long bus journey through the Phuket town area and made our way to the airport via the airport bus that costs 100B (SGD4) which took about 1h 15mins thanks to heavy traffic.

Subway for our dinner and made our way to the boarding gate and it was time to say home sweet home!

Some after-thoughts:
Phuket is definitely a pretty place, although not as beautiful as Bali, the people really make up for it! It was nice having such friendly people and although you probably get 'cat-call' many times by taxi & tuk took drivers, just decline them nicely with a smile. One thing that I don't really enjoy though, was the fact that there was somehow, a very overwhelming number of chinese there, despite the westerners taking the priority. Also, depending on your preference, we had enjoyed going at off-peak season although it was monsoon because the crowd is way smaller with more surfers. If you would prefer more sun-shine, then get ready for more crowds and slightly more expensive hotel rates. :)

Signing off~
